Ethiopia-Based Sourcing Agent - Textile

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sourcing Agent in Ethiopia to help us identify and evaluate local suppliers for industrial sewing production. Your primary task will be to build supplier list per product specifications, pre-screen suppliers, collect RFI/RFQ and negotiate terms.

Key Responsibilities:

STEP 1: Building supplier database.

• Identify all potential suppliers for the categories in Ethiopia. (e.g., long list of suppliers)

• Use all publicly available information to create a long list of suppliers per category by including all suppliers that appear to be supplying the category being analysed

STEP 2: Pre-qualification of the identified supplier through phone screening.

• Carry out an initial phone screening process by phone or email or both as needed of the long list based on 4-5 disqualifying criteria which we will give you in order to filter the unsuitable suppliers from the long list.

• Identify contact person at each supplier to inform about the programme and to check the disqualifying criteria.

STEP 3: Administer an RFI-RFQ process

• Administer an RFI-RFQ process with the suppliers that have passed the phone screening process. Please note that we will create the RFI-RFQ template and pass it on to you. the RFI-RFQ will be sent to the suppliers via our “global sourcing platform” and the suppliers will respond online. So your task will be to call the suppliers to incite them to respond and to respond as completely as possible and on time.

• You will need to translate the response from the suppliers in English if the answers are in the local language other than English.

Requirements:

• Local Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Ethiopia’s manufacturing sector, particularly in textiles, specializing in upholstery, healthcare, military, and sporting goods.

• Proven Sourcing Experience: Prior experience in supplier vetting, procurement, or industrial project coordination.
